Contented Enterprises Limited was formed on 13 September 2007 in Wellington, New Zealand. We have only one business focus: to provide affordable, up-to-date, reliable web-based training courses in all aspects of writing, especially writing for the web. So far more than 2,000 people have studied our courses, and the business is growing rapidly in 2010.

Rachel McAlpine, B.A. Hons., Dip. Ed., MNZCS, ITCP had the original bright idea, and writes the courses. She is widely acknowledged as an authority on general business writing and especially writing for the web.
Rachel's academic qualifications are in languages, education, and literature. She first worked as a teacher, then as an author of novels, plays, and poetry. Rachel's first encounter with the web was in 1995, while a guest professor in Kyoto, Japan. Her most recent book is Write me a web page, Elsie!
Web Word Wizardry was Rachel's first book about writing for the web, and proved hugely popular. After two editions in New Zealand, Web Word Wizardry was completely revised and published by Ten Speed Press in 1999. Rachel still gets fan mail from people who are in love with this old book. The principles of writing for the web remain constant, but the details and emphasis of Web Word Wizardry are (of course) very out of date. She begs fans to put that dear old book aside and instead purchase the new one. It's much more comprehensive, up-to-date, and just as lively, clear and funny as its predecessor:

Alice Hearnshaw LLB (Hons) brings expertise and plenty of experience in project management, systems, web technology, and usability. A graduate of the University of Canterbury, she has a law degree, languages, and literary skills. She manages our customers, identifies new courses and services, and works closely with our developers.
Before co-founding Contented Enterprises, Alice had spent 7 years providing services in web strategy, usability, information architecture and content to corporates and government clients.
Louis Goodier provides technical support to customers, which is where you'll most likely encounter his friendly help. He also works behind the scenes on our web sites and systems.
Louis is currently studying a BIT in Programming at WelTec, Petone. Louis brings experience in many languages: PHP, SQL, ASP, Java, C#, CSS, VB, HTML, Ruby, JavaScript, to name a few. With over 6 years of web development under his belt, his hobby is managing a web hosting company.
