About a Contented company

Contented Enterprises Limited was formed on 13 September 2007 in Wellington, New Zealand. Our main focus: to provide scalable, affordable online writing courses for the digital workplace. So far nearly 4,000 people have studied Contented web writing courses, learning how to write CMS content and business documents, and how to write for the Web. We also provide consultancy services for web content management teams.

Contented Directors

Rachel McAlpine, B.A. Hons., Dip. Ed., MNZCS, ITCP had the original bright idea, and creates the Contented online courses. Her special interests are content development, content strategy, global English and web writing.

Rachel’s academic qualifications are in languages, education, and literature. She first worked as a teacher, then as novelist, playwright and poet.

Rachel’s first encounter with the Web was in 1995, while a guest professor in Kyoto, Japan. Ever since then she has been a content advisor, and she’s a popular presenter at conferences in Asia and the Pacific. Web Word Wizardry was Rachel’s first book about writing for the Web, and she still gets fan mail from people who adore this ancient book. Rachel’s online writing courses are just as lively, clear and funny as her books.

Alice Hearnshaw LLB (Hons) is the genius behind the colourful, energizing e-learning system of the Contented web writing courses. She brings expertise and plenty of experience in project management, systems, web technology, and usability. A graduate of the University of Canterbury, she has a law degree, languages, and literary skills. She manages our customers, identifies new courses and services, and works closely with our developers.

Before co-founding Contented Enterprises, Alice had spent 7 years providing services in web strategy, usability and information architecture to corporates and government clients.
