Last year I discovered something strange. Or rather I failed to discover something simple. Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I couldn't find any self-study online courses on writing web content.
Sure, there are various regular courses provided by universities and other institutions. These involve instructors and usually a week-by-week curriculum. Fine if you are in studying mode. But what if you want a do-it-yourself professional development course in time of need?
Thinking that government training sites must surely provide online training for online writers, I combed through the GoLearn.gov catalog of courses for federal government employees. There are 79 courses on business writing, but not one deals with writing web content.
We have developed just such a course. Initially we intended it only for large organisations, but because of demand, we made it available to everyone. There's now plenty of information about the course on this very web site. The cost is $225 USD per person.
The course name is QWICKIT, which nobody can spell, so one day it will metamorphose to Contented.
