Beware of using fancy formatting in your emails. (Except for the very occasional use of bold, maybe.) Don't decorate your text: just say what you mean.
Emphasise your point by saying less: then your point will be noticed.
Leave text decoration to the experts!
Do you have an urge to make some text bold and big and red?
Here's why this is a bad idea (unless you are an expert designer).
- it distracts from your message
- some readers do not see your formatting: they've switched off the formatting button, and all emails look the same to them
- some readers hate your formatting and find it aggressive
- it probably looks ugly anyway. :-(
